The large printable area runs up to the hub which is clear or frosted. Some manufacturers may insert branding, e.g. manufacturers name or disk type, in the non printable area, if you require no branding on your disks look for disks that have no manufacturer ID listed as a feature. Some disks include a shiny silver non printable ring about 4mm wide in transition between the printable and non printable area. Other descriptions used for this type of disk include Inkjet Printable, Inkjet CD, Printable CD-R, Inkjet Printable CD. Some manufacturers are now producing disks with a new glossy coating which although costing more than standard disks gives similar results to glossy photo paper.
